With that said, here's poem number 1!!
“The Fire in my Eyes”
Colors pass the back of eyelids
in a whirlwind of sparks; red
and orange and yellow. They light
up my night. My perpetual darkness.
But is there really darkness, or
only that which I cannot see?
As I let my preconceived notions
go, my sight expands. I let
myself see what is connected to
the flame colors. Brown trunks attached
to dirt covered with dead grass.
I smell autumn in the brisk
air that passes my upturned face.
The same breeze lifts goose bumps
on my bare arms. Sweet release!
I throw my hands to the
sky! And spin till I’m sick.
God, oh god! All the feelings…
